It’s about finding joy in every aspect of the skiing experience, creating lasting memories, and ensuring a least stressful holiday period. Stephanie Jouin’s Perspective on Skiing, Relaxation, and General Wellbeing:

As a passionate ski competitor and instructor operating in the picturesque ski hills just outside Montreal, I’ve come to appreciate the profound connection between skiing, relaxation, and overall wellbeing, especially during the holiday season. Skiing is not just a sport; it’s a holistic experience that extends beyond the rush of adrenaline on the slopes. It serves as a therapeutic retreat, a sanctuary where individuals can find solace and rejuvenation amidst the crisp mountain air.

The holiday season, with its festive hustle and bustle, can often become overwhelming. That’s where the ski hills offer a unique refuge. The serene beauty of snow-covered landscapes, coupled with the exhilaration of gliding down pristine slopes, creates an environment conducive to relaxation. It’s a time to unwind, connect with nature, and escape the stressors of daily life.”

Creating New Year Goals and Scheduling to Achieve

As the new year approaches, finding moments of repose on the ski hills becomes even more crucial. The practice of taking a moment to appreciate the surrounding mountains, breathing in the fresh winter air, and absorbing the breathtaking views contributes immensely to one’s mental and emotional wellbeing. Skiing, when approached with mindfulness, becomes a form of meditation—a way to centre oneself amidst the natural grandeur of the snowy peaks. This is impossible if you are worrying about what you have to achieve in the new year and fretting about whether you will achieve your goals or not.

Embarking on distance learning at the Canadian Open Learning College is, in my opinion, an excellent avenue for achieving my goals in the coming year. The flexibility of online education aligns seamlessly with the practical learning I require, especially considering my proximity to the exceptional ski mountains around Montreal. Pursuing essential certifications like First Aid or CPR becomes more accessible through this platform, ensuring I am well-prepared for the next stages of my journey. The Canadian Open Learning College not only offers a convenient way to cover classroom learning but also provides the necessary tools and resources to complement the hands-on experiences vital to my field. This approach not only enhances my professional development but also allows me to tailor my education to the specific requirements of my location and interests. As I navigate the dynamic landscape of ski instruction, the Canadian Open Learning College stands as a valuable partner in achieving my aspirations for the upcoming year. Scheduling courses through this platform for the coming year will give me peace of mind so that I can turn my thoughts to other things.

Beyond the physical benefits of skiing as excellent exercise, there’s a profound mental and emotional release that occurs. The rhythmic flow of carving through the snow, the wind in your face, and the sense of freedom as you navigate the mountain terrain all work synergistically to promote a sense of wellbeing. It’s an opportunity to recharge, reset, and face the new year with a refreshed perspective.

In the words of many of my students and fellow ski enthusiasts, the key to surviving long lift lines and queues during the holiday rush lies in embracing the present moment. Use those moments to connect with the environment, find joy in the camaraderie of fellow skiers, and let the mountain guide you into a state of tranquillity. Skiing is not just a physical activity; it’s a holistic experience that nurtures the mind, body, and soul.

As we navigate the holiday season and transition into the new year, I encourage everyone to find their moments of serenity on the ski hills. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor, a weekend enthusiast, or a first-time skier, let the mountains be your sanctuary for relaxation, exercise, and overall wellbeing.
