Introduction

This diploma is designed to explore Change Management. On this course you will learn about detailed learning resources on a range of relevant change management topics, combining the theoretical background on aspects of change management with the practical tools, change management techniques and change communication formats needed for everyday change management.

The following unit descriptors are brief content guides to the course components and should provide a holistic overview of structure and format.

Assessment Objectives (AO)

AO: 1

Students must select and demonstrate clearly relevant knowledge and understanding through the use of evidence, examples and correct language and terminology appropriate to the course of study. This assessment, involves two written assignments: one halfway through the course and following the final unit. Both are assessed and graded by the assigned tutor, according to college procedures. The grading procedure if Pass or Fail. If you Fail an assessment you have the opportunity to amend where your tutor has highlighted and resubmit.

AO: 2

Students must critically evaluate and justify a point of view through the use of evidence and reasoned argument. Students can include evidence in different formats to support their written work such as documentation or images to support their course remembering Confidentiality and Data Protection.

Quality of Written Communication (QWC)

In addition, COLC require students’ to produce written material in English, candidates must: ensure that text is legible and that spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPG) are accurate so that meaning is clear; select and use a form and style of writing appropriate to studying a complex subject matter; organise information clearly and coherently, using specialist vocabulary when appropriate and Harvard referencing of citation and sources. In this Specification, SPG will be assessed in all tutor marked assignments (TMAs)

Accredited Level 3 Change Management Diploma Entry Requirement

Entry to this Accredited Level 3 Change Management Diploma requires that potential students have gained GCSE/IGCSE or equivalent qualifications and have, good English oral, reading and writing skills.

Advice on enrolment and guidance of prior learning (APL) can be obtained through out contact centre. The course is a rolling programme and can be started at any point in the year. Successful students can go on to Higher Education, including remaining as students at COLC to complete courses in our portfolio of higher awards.

All students must be aged 16 or over.

Assessment

The coursework is assessed through continuous assessment with no formal exit examinations.

Study Hours

Approximately: 200 hours of personal study time for the entire course is recommended. All of which is supported by the COLC Course Tutor, who we greatly encourage students to access support from throughout their course.

Accredited Level 3 Change Management Diploma Unit 1: What is Change Management?

The first unit will provide an introduction to the key concepts and issues relating to change management, and how these skills can be developed to implement change within a business or management structure. It examines the ways in which change evolves, and the change manager’s role in this process. The unit concludes with a range of guidelines on putting change management into practice, looking at both issues faced and the characteristics of effective Change Management.

Accredited Level 3 Change Management Diploma Unit 2: The Individual as a Change Manager

This unit considers the roles and responsibilities of the change manager. It will focus on the essential skills required in the role of change manager, with tips and techniques for successful management of change and goal-setting. The unit will provide support for the following aspects of change management; change problem-solving, effective change resolution meetings, change interviewing and giving or receiving change-related feedback. Appropriate management tools are explored, including change landscape analysis.

Accredited Level 3 Change Management Diploma Unit 3: Change Structure and Environment

Unit 3 involves student evaluation of change organizational structures and the diverse environments within which change organizations operate. This unit examines recent trends and change integration. It also looks at how managers can analyze the effects and consequences of change, and anticipate future evolution and organizational development.

Accredited Level 3 Change Management Diploma Unit 4: Managing Change Processes

Unit 4 develops understanding of the processes involved in managing change, including planning and strategy, the costs and budgets involved, and the benefits of understanding the change processes of a business. Practical advice is provided on facilitation of workshops as a manager, in the context of process improvement through change.

Accredited Level 3 Change Management Diploma Unit 5: Managing Change Projects

This unit will examine the core elements of a change project. It provides a step-by-step breakdown of the key phases required for managing change projects successfully. Advice is given on funding change projects, and on quality assessment. The unit provides guidance on establishing roles within change project teams and effective problem-solving to enable successful management of projects.

Accredited Level 3 Change Management Diploma Unit 6: Managing Change Diversity

This unit examines the increasingly diverse UK, EU, US, and global change mandates and the business case for managing by diversity-unification principles. The unit will consider key change issues and issues of legislation, including those related to common challenges and potential conflicts, as well as the diversity of international regulatory styles.

Accredited Level 3 Change Management Diploma Unit 7: Compliance and Change

This unit is about the relationship between compliance and effective change. Resources include a review of compliance-caused/affecting organizational changes, managing the change-compliance process, dealing with individual resistance and cultural issues, the use of coaching, mentoring, and facilitation development. The unit examines the opportunities and strengths provided by compliance, as well as the threats or individual or group resistance to change.

Accredited Level 3 Change Management Diploma Unit 8: Quality and Change

This unit looks at quality assurance and considers how we measure quality and change. If you cannot measure it, you cannot improve it – this is part of a quality and change axiom. The use of change goals, related change performance indicators, service level agreements, and benchmarking against all types of criteria will be considered, along with a review of quality-change management improvement.

Accredited Level 3 Change Management Diploma Unit 9: Audit and Change

An essential tool in evaluating the quality of change is the audit. This Change Management unit outlines the use of audit objectives, related change-audit performance indicators, service level agreements and benchmarking, along with a review of audits and improvement through change management.

Accredited Level 3 Change Management Diploma Unit 10: Ethics and Change

This unit presents recent trends in business ethics. Areas examined include corporate governance, environmental issues, and social responsibility, all of which are a growing concern for organizations. Practical advice is provided with tips and guidance on developing effective Change Management presentations, with a focus on ethics. To conclude the program of study, the student will undertake a course review to reflect on their learning. This will provide an opportunity to set medium-term and long-term career goals.

Progression

This Accredited Level 3 Change Management Diploma can be used to gain entry to a Level 4+5 Diploma or higher.
